What Are Some Examples of an Urgent Care Situation?

Examples of an urgent dental issue include cracked or broken teeth, a piece of orthodontic hardware that is broken or a crown that has come lose. Those sorts of situations need to be taken care of immediately whether they are causing pain or not. Any dental problem that disrupts your daily routine or puts your oral health at risk should be treated as an urgent dental issue.

We want what is best for each patient and that begins with offering daytime, after hours, and 24-hour care, after all, tooth pain doesn't just occur Monday-Friday from 8am to 5pm. In addition to urgent care, we provide emergency dental services too. Our offices are set up to provide comprehensive care for emergency oral issues.

What Should I Do if a Tooth is Knocked Out?

If you have lost a tooth, try to nestle the tooth gently in the socket or between the cheek and the gum. If you can’t, put it in a container with milk. Cold compresses can help with any swelling. You should seek immediate care if a tooth is knocked out, so head straight to your nearest Total Health Dental Care office. If possible, call to let the office know that you are on your way and the details of your situation.

What Can I expect from an Urgent Care Appointment?

Our goal is that nobody leaves our facility in pain. During an urgent care appointment, you are examined by the dentist, diagnosed and your condition stabilized. Depending on the situation, we may opt to do a procedure immediately. We may also stabilize your condition and make another appointment to follow up with additional care. For example, if you have a loose crown, we may place a temporary crown and then repair the old crown, order a new crown, or replace the old crown. If you have tooth pain, we diagnose the reason and correct the problem. That may include sending you home with a prescription for pain medication and antibiotics.
